Current Transmission Issues On The Sunshine Coast

If you are having reception problems  DO NOT RETUNE YOUR TV. Tuning the TV when there is a transmission problem will cause your channels to be wiped or tune in to an incorrect transmitter.  If you no longer have the correct channels set you will not be aware when the reception is finally restored.

Check our Current Fault Log to see if there are Transmitter issues affecting your area.

CURRENT FAULT LOG:

Fault Reported:  12th December 2024

Intermittent pixelation and dropouts are being experienced on all channels from the POINT ARKWRIGHT TRANSMITTER.

Should you be experiencing signal interruptions,  we recommend that you DO NOT RETUNE YOUR TV – Your reception will be restored when the problem is resolved at the Transmitter site.  If you have tried to retune your TV we suggest you reset your tuning by following our instructions on our page what-can-cause-pictures-to-breakup-manual-tuning. When the reception is restored your TV channels will come back online.

Resolved:

Many people on the Sunshine Coast need to manually tune their TV due to the multiple transmitters in the area. Check out our page on Manual Tuning. If you have any problems manually tuning your TV please contact our office on 54791999 and we can send one of our skilled technicians to help. Our best advice though – DO NOT RETUNE YOUR TV.

See below for previous transmission issues

NOTE: With the warmer weather and hot days experienced in November – February,  we do expect there to be signal interruptions from the Point Arkwright transmitter, particularly throughout the hottest parts of the day.

For further information, check the Hepburn Tropo Index. This will show the activity of atmospheric interference (Tropospheric Ducting).  If you see any colour in our general area then there is a high probability of breakup or loss of TV signal. These Atmospheric interferences will rectify in time. However, if your reception does not recover then you may have other issues. Please feel free to contact our office on 54791999 to discuss your issues should they not be related to the below faults.

For those who are technically minded, a further explanation of the Tropospheric Ducting effect can be found in the Wikipedia article.
